Measuring The Effects of Prior Free Tree Jamborees
Now in its fourth year, the impact of annual David Bagwell Company's Free Tree Jamboree can already be seen in yards and common areas throughout Colleyville and its neighboring communities. The seedlings area citizens have eagerly received, planted and nurtured are now becoming more mature specimens and, in some instances, their early growth has been remarkable.

Case in point, Larry and Gail Manion selected a small Christmas Oak at our inaugural Free Tree Jamboree in the spring of 2005. When they planted it in their yard, it was a mere 19 inches tall. With their diligent care and the assistance of the fertile soils of Colleyville, it has grown to be an astounding 12-foot tall specimen in just three and a half years.
It's particularly gratifying to see these trees, many of which we grew from acorns, thriving in folks yards, shared Taylor Steele, David Bagwell Company Landscape Superintendent. Larry and Gail have been very good parents to this Christmas Oak, and it shows in its stature.
Christmas Oaks are so-named because they tend to hold their green leaves long after other deciduous trees have lost theirs, and then around Christmas time they take on a beautiful red wine color and join their cohorts in winter season slumber.
If you've received a tree at one of David Bagwell Company's Free Tree Jamborees and it has displayed similar exponential growth since you planted it, we would love to hear about it. Please contact us at freetrees@bagwellcompany.com and, if you're so inclined, attached a snapshot of your tree.
